Why is Manjuu is doing it? You’re creating a high-budget fully 3D open world gacha game which more expensive to make than Azur Lane yet they decided releasing in a old fashion way during 2010s, WHICH IS **STUPID!!!** What are they doing for the past 2 years after the initial trailer? Why they have to rely on different publish like Yostar and Nexon on their country, instead doing self-publishing like Genshin, HSR, WuWa, Endfield, etc? Is Manjuu being incompetent?

Can’t even cope here about being a weeby or fanservice game, people spend on triple a quality gachas
This could’ve been Manjuu’s first giant IP that will uplift the other IPs to mainstream, I say this because I think the Japanese way of delaying other servers stifles the hype compared to a global release
It’ll be lucky to have a UmaMusume phenomenon especially if global releases after Ananta, Silver Palace etc

I thought this game would be in the top 5 with the other big gachas. Being pushed back for like 6 months is so rough. Watching JP/CN get the newer stuff first and being forced 6 months to wait to try it.

OP, I think you just answered your own question: *making Azur Promilia is expensive.*
And I wager that Manjuu isn’t exactly loaded enough to pull it off without any bumpy ride, so to speak. Yes, Azur Lane is quite successful, but last I heard, the revenue sharing among Yostar, Manjuu, and Yongshi isn’t exactly in Manjuu’s favor. And yes, there is also the merchandising for AL, but AFAIK, that’s also primarily driven by Yostar, so we have no idea if Manjuu has a similar arrangement for the revenues from them.
As such, I predict that *Manjuu kind of bit off more than they can chew.* So something’s gotta give, and the Global version will be the one to take the fall, so to speak… lol.
That’s just me though. Who knows what’s really going on inside the company to end up with that decision, lol.

This just further shows how impactful global is to revenue, I have no idea what you’re on about. Obviously the ratios are going to vary by game, but the one you sent still has *just* the US, not even global, as sitting just barely out of the top two incomes. So what’s your point? You think the lowball of a fifth of your total gross income is worth shafting? Because that’s certainly a take if it’s what you’re getting at. How about this, how about we get some actual damn effort in on the global side and watch more games have splits like Hoyo titles. They may receive a lot of hate, but no one can argue how much effort has gone into the global side of it on every title this side of Genshin.

Dude, global has never been impactful to any gacha games. Just look at FGO one of the oldest gacha games with outdated gameplay and JP is carrying it on its back, even beating out genshin and other big gacha games, and the EN version of the game doesn’t make them 10% of the revenue.
You overestimate global players way too much. Genshin is also not a very good example since it’s like a very mainstream gacha game. azur promilia won’t even come close to that whether in revenue or fanbase, especially with the direction they are going with.

Are you saying it’s favoritism by Manjuu for focusing more on Asian markets than global? If so, I am not sure that’s the case. They had opened X/Twitter accounts for both JP and EN at the same time, I believe. It seemed like they were thinking about EN from the start, and I think maybe something happened behind the scenes that caused the delay. Maybe they had plans with a publisher, but the publisher got cold feet and pulled out at the last minute?

I mean at large across the industry, I suppose? It feels like the companies themselves continue to largely treat the global audience as less important than the homeland audience which is something all global companies do to varying degrees. But the fact remains too that all of these accounts were created at around the same time yet EN has collected dust until less than a week ago while JP and KR have been actively promoting for almost a year.
We certainly don’t know the exact reason why, maybe it was a publisher thing and Manjuu was relying on them for the global side of it, who knows. But ultimately, these accounts show where the focus has been and it’s on them in the end to be responsible for it.
If that makes sense, that’s kinda the take I’m settling into personally

Because they likely didn’t initially plan for this to happen.
Both JP and EN twitter account were made at the same time, yet JP activated earlier. Even the initia Azur Promilia website page had English text.
The likely answer is thay whatever deal they had behind the scenes for Global fell through for whatever reason and they had to pivot to self-publishing.

When will the jap version release though? They could’ve just simul-released with English subtitles and then later added an english dub (which is hot garbage in these games anyway).

not gonna say much but i felt this rant post is the main reason why theres seperate release
games from big names studio are dropping in revenue left and right, and they have global even. heck. most global players are f2p anyway… only the content creators whales.
its time to stop in this oversaturated market and focus on what works. gain back the trust of asian market like the good old days.

Many people simply aren’t used to this system, but there are still games whose releases aren’t simultaneous in all regions. Doing it this way is a testing method because a global release is more expensive. That’s why the global version is often different from a regional 1.0 version. It’s true that the difference between servers means one is more advanced in updates, but the good thing is that these are basically official leaks. I’m not saying MANJUU does that because in Azur Lane everyone receives the same content except for special server anniversary event items.

Idk why people some comments here is saying the regional spending is why Global getting shafted when a simultaneous release should be a priority for Global release cause there’s not much margin of error when it comes for global revenue.
Like AP is coming into an over saturated market of open world gacha games they should go all in to market this and your first big news in Global is there’s not gonna be a simultaneous release.
Also for those comparing this delay for other games all those example have very different circumstances like with GFL2.

Let me play devils advocate here…
I see some positives about it tbh. But i also know that im saying that as someone that wont follow every bit and piece of news and content about it, because i want to experience it as blind as possible.
For one – we all know the state of releases these days and all those regions will pretty much be beta-testers for the first few months. The global release on the other hand will likely benefit from a more polished version and depending how bad the gacha at release is, probably even from a better gacha economy.
Secondly – i mean it IS beneficial to know what characters are coming out months beforehand, which could severaly decrease the buyers remorse in that regard. If we go by the typical 3w banner timeframes and expect it to be an about 6mo delay, thats ~9 (minus any reruns) character releases that global players have a knowledge advantage over and can precisely save up for. For anyone who is a hype-slave, thats probably not preferable, but for anyone else, its honestly pretty nice. (even tho it will definitely chew into their global revenue)
Third – Global feedback. We will see how the game is and can demand changes for our version.
Mostly thinking about monetization here. BUT we will also get promo material, that will show us the way they will handle localisation and some time to adjust to feedback (if they care).
Saw a lot of people – me included – being worried about “dubtitles”. The extra time we get can be used to request a more “true to the original” localisation.

Your comment is kinda retarded tbh and simply shows that you have no clue what you are talking about.
What did they do since the first trailer? Develop the game.
A Trailer is just that – a trailer. It tells you nothing about the state of a game and two years is a moderate timeframe for that kind of promo material to release.
Why do they need a specific publisher for some regions? Laws most likely and convenience.
If i remember correctly, you cant release a game in China without license to do so. Hence why even big western companies need chinese publishers (often with CCP functionaires in their boards) to release anything there. For other regions – compliance with law, available structures and connections, simply less hassle to do incl. all that comes with it like localisation.
Why do they release it globally delayed? No idea. We dont know their finances, timelines, issues they had with their global version or if they intended to release a global version at all until recently. Delayed releases are still quite common, especially for online games like chinese MMOs btw. (Blue Protocol would be a good example here)
Based on their own data from AL, global probably isnt the most profitable “region”, but one with the most hassle to release in, considering that its made of dozens of different jurisdictions and sub-regions, that might have different regulations, need several server-hubs for smooth connections etc.
Not sure if there are other stats that show that global playerbases are less forgiving of bad releases (wouldnt surprise me) and therefore want to let the other regions be the beta testers for now.

I’d argue they probably wanted to release a Global version from the beginning, considering they made the English Promilia account around the same time as the JP one(February 2023) and had English as an available Language for the Azur Promilia website from the beginning.
My personal opinion from them deciding to go for Publishers in different regions(which is actually quite uncommon for such games from the “big names” who publish it nearly all in their own names like Wuthering Waves, Arknights Endfield, Genshin Impact) is probably motivated by the fact that it was actually too hard for them to do it alone. They MIGHT have had a deal for Global that fell through and they now have to do it themselves.
There’s a lot of different answers on why or how, but that’s how I see it. It’s behind the scenes stuff that didn’t go over smoothly because they underestimated how hard it would be.

All absolutely possible.
Might also explain the constant switching of website URL names. That they basically have been scrambling to get things in order for a global release pipeline in the past year or so.
That said. Taking the official account names for your game and having a machine translated website isnt necessarily a “commitment”. ;D
The important part is: We dont know. But they surely dont do it just for shits and giggles. ;D
