Given the nature of the game, a western publisher will likely demand censorship and loli removal, if manjuu earn enough by releasing the game in asia/japan first, they can both localize and publish the game in west without issues, look at Mica with Girls Frontline 2
Kuro had a massive cash injection from selling off most of the company to Tencent and eventually-Tencent. Manjuu already sold out to some owners that are bad at publishing globally.
ugh i know. I think yostar has some good parts, but it’s very obvious this company is a publishing company, that tries to pretend they can be a big development studio as well.
I actually like stella sora, but it’s very obvious the game lacks gameplay depth. They know all the ingredients to make a gacha game, but they don’t have the secret sauce to make a “fun” game. they lack core competency for actual deep thoughtful gameplay and game mechanics.
No i do. And i 100% agree with you. Which is why I said they know all the ingredients to make a gacha game. I probably should’ve added “good gacha game”. The music is pretty BANGER, so many solid tracks. Art is cute, they just need to focus on more lolis (Nazuna and Donna lover here), and yes the PC client is super well done. And the game is optimized well.
SS is indeed one of the best casuals out there and actually respects my time.
But yup, we both agree. The gameplay could use more depth.
I’m just disappointed because usually something like gameplay and core gameplay mechanics is something that you really need to iron out pretty early in the development process. I played in their beta and I really thought that they would improve it but when the game released, I was disappointed to see that they pretty much made no changes to tower Ascension runs. There’s so much more they could deal with this game mode that would make it amazing. Especially since it is so core for us in creating our records.
I actually really like the idea of teambuilding and creating records through the tower run. The problem is that these Ascension runs are mostly based on RNG when you’re trying to min/max, and ofc emblems. And its also way too easy. I just use skip tickets.
But I think these types of changes might make the game less casual.
No, I think their issue is the opposite. They are actually *too* good at publishing and promoting/advertising. To this day, many Japanese players still think that Blue Archive is made by Yostar and not Nexon because they slap their name on everything. Yostar is closely associated with their published games and have a lot of sway in their regions. Developer companies don’t want to give up power if they don’t have to which is probably why Gryphlink self-published endfield.
Anyone who says Yostar ISN’T GOOD at promotion/advertising is crazy. They know how to merchandise and they understand the Asia market and user base extremely well. They work on building their business relationships.
Go out and visit Japan, Akihabara just ONCE. How has a CHINESE/HongKong HQ company been able to affect and become such a main stay staple of JR Akihabara station for so long. Not even Hoyoverse has their own physical store attached to the train station of the biggest otaku mecca of the world.
Yostar has done an very good job at partnering with VERY many prolific artists and creators in Japan and in China.
I have my qualms with how they do shit and how they bully smaller developers like Manjuu, etc, but I am not going to sit here and bury my head in the sand and pretend I can’t see what they are good at. Even if i disagree with their methods.
Yeah, loli is a huge red flag for western gamers, they hates loli whether sexualized or not, the Pragmata drama is a good example. It something to be treaded lightly or they will get cancel by western fanbase.

Not every gacha do the worldwide release even in current year.
really fucking bad news if they cant do a global simultaneous release. imagine in 2026, a premiere gacha game with global behind by MONTHS compared to asia? manjuu needing to maintain 2 versions of the game? yeah no
With all the censorship dramas going on lately, They really need to launch a global server separate from CN server, kinda like how they did with Azur Lane
